BALTIMORE - Sept. 30, 2019 - The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) awarded Attiyya Atkins with one of its two 2019 Diversity Fellowships at its "Best of the Best" Ceremony on Wednesday, September 25 held at the Hilton Hotel in Batlimore. Atkins was chosen for this honor due to her dedication to environmental education in parks. As a Public Communications Specialist, she has fostered several initiatives within Broward County Parks and Recreation that encourage diverse communities to appreciate their environment and their communities.
The NRPA Diversity Scholarship was awarded to two individuals from underrepresented groups in the parks and recreation community who have demonstrated outstanding contributions serving diverse communities.

"The committee was honored to review all the applications of qualified individuals and agencies that have made significant contributions to their communities through the field of parks and recreation."
