CME Symposium- Management of LDL-C-Cholesterol: Taking the Next Steps

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. - Sept. 17, 2019 - Register online now

LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C) is a central focus of cardiovascular risk reduction. Unfortunately, many individuals with elevated LDL-C are not achieving treatment goals despite the use of guideline- recommended statin therapy. This includes individuals who have a suboptimal response to recommended intensity of statin therapy, and also those who are unable to tolerate the recommended statin intensity. Furthermore, some patients are not able to tolerate any dose of a statin. Even if patients initiate treatment with statins, lack of adherence to statin therapy is a significant concern. Patients with suboptimal LDL-C levels are at increased risk of major adverse cardiovascular events. In this educational initiative, lipid experts will address the clinical problems of inadequate response to statin therapy, statin adherence, and statin intolerance. Best practices to address these issues will be identified, and the clinical profiles of emerging non-statin, LDL-C- lowering therapies will be described.
