Jose Pineiro’s Role in the Remarkable Transformation of Alvernia Building

Spain, August 22,2019- The Alquimia Hostel is one of a kind in Cádiz. Also popular as a house of noble widows and guests, the hostel consists of double, triple, family and multiple rooms available at prices ranging from just 15 to 18. Jose Pineiro who has been taking care of the hostel with his wife for years now has played a remarkable role in the building’s transformation.

The Alvernia building was remodeled back in 1780 with zero catalog, almost like the cathedral. After that first restoration, a bourgeois named Martínez Yepes turned it into a widow's house. Martínez Yepes still names the Foundation that has benefited from the initiative piloted by Pineiro and his wife.

"They had to leave the building and the activity of the former managers, who from the widow's house became a residence for the elderly, it was at that point when they asked us for advice on what to do with the building, we projected the possibility of converting it into a shelter and that is how it was, " Jose Pineiro shared during one of his interviews.
