ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Aug. 16, 2019 - Back for the 9th consecutive year, Golden Limousine and WEMU have proudly partnered to provide round trip shuttle transportation to and from the Motor City for the Detroit Jazz Festival. Shuttles will run on Saturday, August 31 through Monday, September 2. Shuttle schedules and tickets can be found at https://goldenlimo.com/detroit-jazz-festival-2019/. Due to the continued partnership with WEMU, the round trip shuttle cost is $10 per day, per seat, before August 28, 2019. The price will increase to $15 per day, per seat, after August 28, 2019.
The shuttles will be departing each day from the Kensington Hotel near Ann Arbor Briarwood Mall on Briarwood Circle, and from EMU Mayhew Lot, off of North Huron River Drive, near Campus Security office in Ypsilanti. The return shuttle from Detroit will depart from the bus stalls on Jefferson and Washington, near Cobo Center.
The Detroit Jazz Festival is back for its 40th year. Starting August 30 through September 2, the world's largest, free jazz festival brings in jazz legends, rising stars, legacy and homecoming artists to the Detroit area. Each year concert-goers enjoy a lineup of more than 60 performances on multiple stages, as well as spontaneous late-night jam sessions. The Jazz Fest was founded in 1980 by Robert McCabe and the Detroit Renaissance, along with the Detroit Grand Prix and the International Freedom Festival. WEMU is a founding partner of the Festival and has been part of the event every year since.
For its 40th anniversary celebration, this year's lineup features a range of performances including Stanley Clarke, Cameron Graves Quartet, Chucho Valdés, Connie Han, Boyz n the Hood, Dee Dee Bridgewater and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, ELEW, Joe Lovano Nonet, John Pizzarelli Trio and many more!
