To edit your contact details in Yahoo messenger right click on the contact in the list under the Yahoo messenger. Now you have to click on contact details. After this you can add or edit information and then click save and close. For any contact if you do not have any mobile or phone number, you will be shown that person's Yahoo ID only. If you want to edit your own contact details then you have to go to Yahoo messenger and then select my contact details. Now you can edit or add more information. Now just click save and close. When you use Yahoo messenger the people in your contact list will only see your Yahoo mail ID and they will not see your phone number.

Once you update your information your friends in the contact list will immediately receive the information through an instant message. Your friends have to either accept or decline the message. If your friendsaccept the information you send, your contact details will be added to his or her address book. You can also ask your friends to accept the information by contacting them personally via Yahoo messenger.
