• Claims are permitted to be removed before the national phase entry in India
• Utmost official fees for filing series listings capped to INR 1, 20,000.
2. Procedural Reforms & Practices Reengineering
Some of the procedural reforms and reengineering in patent process has supervened in following improvements in the system:
• A centralized automated system initiated for allotment of applications for examination across all 4 patent offices. The new system deletes inconsistency in time of examination in the same group and deletes the need for physical presence of examiner at a particular patent office;
• Lawful transmissions to be sent electronically by the Patent Office to the applicant or their representatives on the registered email ids
• Patent accords certificates are now produced online and sent to the applicants or their agents via e-mail
• Stage-wise real-time information of applications is accessible on the IPO website.
• Patent Search System is further sleeked
• Electronic payment gateway is initiated to accelerated the communication of PCT applications fees to IB and ISA
• Quality Control system is developed for release of quality reports to IP-user public.
Some other Initiatives:
• A special IPO Support Group is introduced to resolve the e-filing related difficulties.
• Stakeholders meetings were managed on various issues to receive evaluation/recommendations on procedural and technical issues.
• Separate gateway has been set up in the IPO website to authorize stakeholders to submit evaluation/recommendations /complaints regarding issues related to operating of the office.
• IPO Help-Desk has been energized to solve e-filing complications of shareholders.
