Nebraska Writers Guild Writing Improvement N L Sharp Tips Event Announced

The Nebraska Writers' Guild, a professional association for writers of all disciplines, literary agents, educators, publishers and librarians that helps people to improve their craft, is hosting a writing celebration and program in Norfolk, Nebraska, called Six Corners of Nebraska. It is in honor of Nebraska's 150th Statehood Anniversary, and will be held at the Northeast Community College Student Center.

More information is available at: http://nebraskawriters.org.

Participants in the event will learn how to distill story ideas from life events, and discover how to use their imagination to inspire stories across any number of genres. In addition to this, they will learn how to transform these ideas into a working outline, from which they can then begin crafting larger works.

By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a developed story idea, the beginning of a working outline, and a collection of handouts to help guide them through the next steps of the writing process.

Prairieland Press will be hosting a booth at the event to showcase its books, with a wide range of stories for all ages available for people to pick up. The company is a small Midwestern publishing house that focuses on high quality books and educational material for teachers.

One of the publishers' authors, N. L. Sharp, will be there to meet participants and talk about writing her books. N. L. Sharp is a children's author from Fremont, Nebraska, and has had two of her books included in the Golden Sower Awards Program, which is Nebraska's Children's Choice Award Program.

N. L. Sharp has been reading and writing children's books for more than twenty years. She is a former elementary school teacher and librarian, and has published a range of children's books, including the middle grade novel Keeping Captain, and picture books for younger readers.

Visitors to the Prairieland Press booth will be able to talk to her about the writing process, as well as pick up tips on how to write their own children's books.
