How Women Can Overcome Society's Pressures About Body Image

Mountain View, CA – Rich Rios, Jr., is on mission to help women overcome the negative stereotypes of the kind of body they should have, regardless of the characteristics they were born with.

Rios is a Master Hypnotherapist, and the author of the new book, “Alice Doesn’t Live in the Mirror.” It uses the “Alice in Wonderland” stories as a metaphor for the pressures that women receive on a daily basis from a variety of sources to look a certain way.

“Advertising, women’s magazines, TV shows and other women conspire to make girls, who become women, unhappy with their bodies,” Rios said. “So they spend billions of dollars on cosmetics, diet products, exercise program, books and even expensive and dangerous plastic surgery to get their body to conform to some imagined ideal.”

All of these negative inputs take their toll, resulting in poor body image, low self-esteem and self-loathing, “Plastic surgery, in particular, can be devastating psychologically,” Rios said. “It can effect the internal circuits of the body and create an unhealthy emotional imbalance that can haunt a woman for the rest of her life.”

To make matters worse, societal standards for beauty keep changing through the years. “It’s time for women to get off of the self-destructive Merry-Go-Round and take back control of their bodies and their psyches,” Rios said. “There are times when it is necessary for a woman to lose weight for health reasons. Forty percent of the adult population is overweight, which can lead to heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and more.”

He suggests that women who wish to lose weight for health reasons try a number of methods that are available to them such as Hypnotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, NeuroLinguistic Programming and more.

“It’s time for Alice to jump back out of the Looking Glass, and finally be free,” Rios said.
