Advantages and Disadvantages of Tube and Clamp Scaffolding

Below are the advantages and disadvantages of tube and clamp scaffolds:

Advantages:

(1) High bearing capacity. When the geometric size and structure of the scaffold meet the relevant requirements of the specification, the bearing capacity of the single-tube column of the scaffold can generally reach 15kN~35kN (1.5tf~3.5tf, design value).

(2) Easy to assemble and disassemble, flexible to set up. Due to the adjustable length of the steel pipe and the simple connection of the fasteners, it can be used for various buildings and structures with scaffolds in plan and elevation.

(3) Relatively economical. Simple processing, and low one-time investment costs; if the geometry size of the scaffold is carefully designed and the steel pipe turnover rate is improved, the material consumption can also achieve better economic results. The equivalent steel consumption per square meter of building for tube&clamp scaffold is about 15 kg.

Disadvantages:

(1) Fasteners (especially their screws) are easy to lose;

(2) The posts at the node are eccentrically connected and rely on the friction force to transmit the load and internal force, thus reducing its bearing capacity;

(3) The connection quality of the fastener node is significantly affected by the quality of the fastener itself and the operation of the workers.
